ATTENTION: expatriate workers must know this point about the new Qatari labor law

Before labor law go live, the government has set up the Exit Permit Grievances Committee.

The committee will redress complaints of expatriate workers whom employers deny them permission to leave the country.

The committee comprises representatives of National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and ministries of Labor and Interior.

When the new labor law is applied on December 14, the existing Kafala system will be abolished and replaced with a contract-based employment system.

The committee would be able to reach decisions within three days after submission of request.

If an employer refuses an application for leave, the affected party can make a request at the Grievances Committee which is found at the old Traffic Department office in Madinat Khalifa .

Now, applications for exit permits to the committee must be submitted in a written form; and it will go online soon.
