Bad weather conditions in Qatar
Starting today, one should expect windy conditions to prevail in the country.
Meanwhile, the temperatures in Doha and surrounding regions will hover around the mid-40°C levels in the coming days, according to Gulf Times.
Today, the mercury level is likely to rise to 48°C in Al Khor and 46°C in Doha.
Qatar’s Met Department has said that fresh to strong northwesterly winds are expected over most areas of the country during daytime on Friday and Saturday as Indian Monsoon low deepens in the region with wind speed ranging between 18 to 28 knots, gusting to 38 knots at times, according to The Peninsula.
According to the Met Department, dusty conditions will continue until Sunday (June 10). The department has also warned against poor visibility and high seas from Thursday night till Saturday.
The report said, “Fresh to strong northwesterly wind is expected to sweep across most areas of the country during daytime on Friday and Saturday as Indian monsoon low deepens in the region. The wind speed will range between 18 to 28kt gusting to 38kt at times in some areas causing blowing dust and the visibility to drop to 2km or less especially in open areas,” reported Qatar Tribune.
The height of waves is expected to rise to up to 11ft at times with wind speed reaching 30 knots offshore.
However, wind speed is expected to decrease relatively on Sunday, it added, pointing out that the northwesterly wind (locally called Bawarih) will continue with variable intensity next week.
A maximum temperature of 48°C has been forecast in Al Khor today, followed by 46°C in Doha and 42°C in Wakrah and Mesaieed.
