FIFA will decide the number of 2022 World Cup stadiums in due course, but not by the end of 2016 as was expected.
This is a part of an overall ongoing infrastructure discussion, as FIFA mentioned.
Today 5 stadiums out of 8 are being under construction, and they are: Al Rayyan, Khalifa International, Al Wakrah, Al Bayt Al Khor and Qatar Foundation.
The other three in Lusail, Ras Abu Aboud and Al Thumama are still in the preliminary stages.
There are expectations that the eight stadiums will be completed by 2020.
Knowing that by 2022 about 8 to 12 stadiums will be ready.
It was expected that FIFA will announce the number of venues at the end of 2015.
It’s noteworthy to mention that many issues about Qatar 2022 appeared recently and are being discussed.
