Qatar: Be careful on Sunday
The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) announced that residents of Qatar, including those in the Northern Hemisphere will have a good chance to observe the Lyrids meteor shower from the evening of Sunday (April 22) till dawn of Monday (April 23).
Dr. Beshir Marzouk, the astronomical expert at QCH, stated that Lyrids meteor shower is usually active every year during April 16 – 25, while its peak will be starting from evening of this Sunday.
As a matter of fact, the Lyrids meteor shower is an important meteors shows from Earth, where the average shower will be 10 -20 Lyrids meteors per hour, and sometimes arriving to 80 Lyrids meteors per hour according to astronomer experts on meteors shower observations.
Dr. Beshir Marzouk added that Qatar residents and residents of countries of all Northern Hemisphere won’t need astronomical instrumentations to see Lyrids meteor shower; it can be seen with the naked eye from places without light and environment pollutions (pure sky), and more dark places.
This time around observing Lyrids meteor will be special, because the Moon will not appear on the sky, it is learnt.
