Qatar opens a unique friendly park

Qatar has always proved to be a pioneer when it comes to implementing ground-breaking ideas.

The country displayed the trait yet again when it opened its first-ever public park for children with special needs at Al Legtaifiya in West Bay.

The park, which features modified playground equipment such as a slide and a swing for wheelchair users, has opened a new frontier for accessibility in Qatar. It has also set in motion an opportunity for children of all ages and abilities to come and play together.

Amal Al Mannai, the Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work inaugurated the Al Legtaifiya Park.

The inclusive playground is the latest breakthrough for ‘Accessible Qatar,’ an initiative designed to support disabled community to enable them to visit public places and touristic locations and outlets in Qatar.

The park was designed and constructed by Sasol, the international integrated chemicals and energy company, in cooperation with the Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment.
