Qatar: Be ready for these activities today!
The 2018 Doha Triathlon takes place this Friday, March 16th in the surroundings of the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). This is the second edition of the event, which started on 20th January 2017.
In addition to the full Olympic Triathlon and Sprint distances of last year, this year a new Super Sprint distance has been introduced for teenagers aged 12-13 and 14-15 years old, individually or in teams.
Super Sprint – 375m swim, 10km bike, 2.5k run
Sprint – 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5k run
Olympic – 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10k run
The swim will take place in bay behind the Museum. Doha average sea water temperature in March is 22.6 degrees Celsius (71.3 Fahrenheit) and therefore, as per ITU rules, the use of wetsuits for the swim will be most likely forbidden (water temperature reaching or exceeding 22 C (71.6 F) for adults and 20 C (68 F) for children).
Transition will be placed next to Richard Serra’s ‘7’ Sculpture. The cycling leg will be along the Corniche and back to the Museum Park for the run.
Time – 5:00 am – 5:00 pm
