Qatar: Be ready for the festival which starts tomorrow
The seventh edition of Halal Qatar Festival, an event organised by Cultural Village-Katara to highlight animal trade as an important aspect of Qatari tradition, opens tomorrow with a variety of activities, traditional competitions and entertainment.
The festival will be launched at 4pm tomorrow and continue till March 10 at the southern area of Katara.
The festival includes three main features which are Al Mazain — a beauty contest for sheep and goats, Al Mazad — a public auction of livestock — and stables where various breeds of sheep and goats are displayed.
There will also be educational and entertaining activities, stage shows and competitions to be held throughout the festival days in the morning and evening periods.
Among the activities are eight artistic workshops designed to motivate children to create paintings and sculptures using various materials such as dyed sheep’s wool, in addition to other handicraft workshops related to livestock products that suit different age groups and allow all participants to enjoy their time. Besides, there will be other leisure activities such as horse and camel rides.
A group of artists and experts will be present to conduct a number of activities such as teaching students the proper way of feeding animals and the method of milking goats.
Among the new features of this year’s edition of the festival is an auction of distinct types of Halal, the Arithi goats, the best Arab sheep and the best Syrian sheep.
The festival program will be held from 8am to 12 noon and from 3pm to 10pm. School visits will be held in the morning and the general public can visit the expo in the morning and evening. The auctions will be held daily in the evening between Asr and Maghreb prayers.
