Qatar: warns about serious changes in the weather

The temperature in the country is expected to go beyond the average for the month , according to the weather bureau. The mercury touched 43 degrees Celsius yesterday in some places.

The bureau’s seasonal forecast indicates that there is 60 to 70 percent chance of above average temperatures over most areas of Arabian Gulf during the months of April, May and June.

The Meteorology Department forecasts a settled and sunny in general over the coming days, due to a high pressure in the upper atmospheric levels.

The prevailing winds would be easterly to south-easterly causing the temperature to continue rising noticeably above average. The temperature is expected to go between 35 to 45 degrees Celsius in most areas, while the average maximum temperature in Doha for the month is 33 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the bureau’s monthly weather prediction shows a chance for some rainfall in the last week of April. Some parts of the country is expected to receive rains during the period from April 21 to May 4. However, weekly mean wind patterns do not show much chance for the occurrence of cooler northerly winds during the month, which would help reduce temperature.

Today the weather would be hazy at first, becoming hotter by day with some clouds and slight dust. Doha would have a temperature between 39 and 27 degrees Celsius, while in Al Wakrah and Messaeeid the temperature range between 36 and 26 degrees Celsius.

However, the maximum temperature in Abu Samrah is expected to reach 42 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperature would be 23 degrees Celsius, making it both the hottest and coolest place in Qatar. With rising temperature the Meteorology department has urged public to drink plenty of liquids and to avoid direct sunlight during hot weather conditions in order to avoid sun strokes.
