Ninth Qatar International Food Festival

The ninth Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF), the country’s longest-running food festival, opens today at Hotel Park.

Over the course of the coming 11 days, residents and visitors can go to sample and enjoy a variety of gastronomic experiences, including a fresh farmers’ market, garden picnics and special festival menus at participating restaurants around Qatar. And in celebration of the aromatic coffee bean, there is a new coffee zone offering a truly unique experience.

The event will culminate in a fireworks display above the Doha Corniche. Other special features include a Mini Zoo in the zone dedicated to young children.

Fadhma N’Soumer Movie Screening

Katara in cooperation with Algerian Embassy in Qatar present Fadhma N’Soumer Movie.

This film is about the courage and the determination of a young woman in Djurdjur, a mountain in Algeria, fighting for her ancestoral land during the earlier years of French occupation.

Ai Weiwei expo

Thousands of clothes and shoes once owned by refugees are displayed in Laundromat, the first-ever exhibition in the Gulf by iconoclastic Chinese artist Ai Weiwei that puts the spotlight on the global refugee crisis.

A total of 2,046 articles of clothing are neatly arranged and hanged on clothes racks which stand on the floor covered with Ai’s Newsfeed comprising daily press coverage, personal observations and images on war, displacement, and the refugee and migrant journey among others.
